How to help
“Portas pro Futuro” (“Doors to the Future”) is an apprenticeship training program designed to equip adolescents from disadvantaged backgrounds, aged 12 and 14, with the necessary qualifications and skills so they can have access to the local job market and start building their professional future. In partnership with Espaço da Criança-ARH, companies who invest in the program are empowered to shape the training of the adolescents to ensure the future apprentices are equipped with the right skills designed to meet the needs of their organization. As a result of the training, the adolescents are skilled and highly motivated and ready to make a positive contribution to local businesses from Day 1 of their apprenticeship.

What our adolescents have to say

“I have already have noticed my confidence improve through the classes. For example, the practice job interviews have made me less timid about speaking aloud in front of others and helped me understand how to articulate and introduce myself during potential job opportunities.”

“This is my opportunity to develop the right skillset and improve my confidence to secure my first job. My dream is to be a police officer. I really want to study hard, secure a stable job and become economically independent so I can look after my family and improve the conditions of my local area.”

“I was nervous and originally didn’t think I would pass the test to get into the program. I was so proud and happy when I found out I had been selected! I want to learn to speak English fluently and travel so I can discover new cultures. I would like to pursue a career in engineering.”

Together we develop the training. The result belongs to you.

What local employers in Recife look for in hiring young apprentices:

“We struggle to find skilled apprentices; many lack basic skills in reading and writing. A pipeline of highly trained apprentices would allow me to fulfil my legal quota and bring economic benefits to my company.”

CEO da Qualimar Pescados

“I’m looking for apprentices whose eyes are shining bright and who are determined and ambitious from Day 1.”

How the Portas pro Futuro program responds to companies’ needs:

1

Trained and motivated apprentices from Day 1

Espaço da Criança-ARH starts training adolescents from the age of 12. By the end of the program, they are ready to make a positive contribution to your business. In partnership with Espaço da Criança-ARH, companies who invest in the program are empowered to shape the curriculum to ensure the adolescents are equipped with the right skills to meet the needs of their organization. Through this investment, your company will receive a sustainable pipeline of skilled apprentices to fulfil your legal quota of young apprentices.

2

An effective way to invest in the community and make Recife a better place

Supporting the apprenticeship program provides an effective way for your company to achieve its corporate social responsibility goals. By enabling adolescents from underprivileged backgrounds to access skilled training and secure future apprenticeship roles at your organization, they will have the opportunity to build their professional future and secure a stable income.

Expert partners in educating children and adolescents

Espaço da Criança-ARH has more than 25 years’ worth of experience in educating and nurturing children and adolescents. Many of the adolescents participating in the apprenticeship program have been with Espaço da Criança-ARH since the age of 4, and so have been mentored for several years before they join the program. Many of the NGO’s former students have gone on to launch successful professional careers. To ensure this progress continues, the NGO provides regular monitoring and evaluation services to the adolescents participating in the Portas pro Futuro program.
